The term theater and their meanings

The term theater and their meanings

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the word derives from Greek theater theaomai [4] (θεάομαι) - look carefully, understand, contemplate (1990, vol. 28:515). Theaomai do not mean in the usual sense, but having an intense, immersive, meditative, inquiring, in order to discover the deeper meaning, a careful and deliberate vision which interprets its object (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament vol.5: pg.315, 706)
The theater, more than being a public place where you can see, the place is condensed from the ambiguities and paradoxes, where things are taken in more than one sense. Campbell thus define (2005:1):
The Greek word Theatron (θέατρον) provides the physical location of the viewer, "where you go to see" and where, simultaneously, the drama happens seen as a complement, real and imaginary. Thus the stage is represented in other forms imagined by the audience. Every reflection that has the drama as an object needs to support a theater triad: the beholder, what you see, and imagined. The theater is a phenomenon that exists in this space and imaginary time in individual and collective formed in this space. "
Jaco Ginsburg (1980:5) in turn describes the expression as scenic formed by a "basic triad - active, text and audience," without which the theater would not exist. Acting is not only the actors, objects may be (as in the puppet theater) or other active or functions (animals or things), the text, on the other hand, is not only the written text or spoken on stage, because the Theatre is not a literary or art, as stated by Marco de Marinis (1982), the theater is a dramatic text. Greimas in his study of narratology uses the term actant to define one of the elements that develop the narrative (Greimas, Courtes y AJ, J. (1990). (Actants in: Semiotics. To reason Diccionario de la del lenguaje theory. Madrid: Gredos)
